Heatstroke, fatigue and dehydration are just few of the things extreme summer heat can bring. Protect your energy, hydration, skin, and overall health throughout the day by following a simple wellness routine to stay balanced, refreshed, and protected even during intense temperatures

Cool morning start

Body Care: Begin your day early, wake up before the heat builds before sunrise is best or between 5 to 8 a.m. Drink 1–2 glasses of water first thing, or coconut water if available. A light walk or gentle stretching is fine, but avoid intense workouts.

Food: Breakfast should be light and easy with foods like fruit, curd, poha, or idli, basically foods that don’t feel heavy on the stomach.

Skincare: When it comes to skincare a lightweight, water-based moisturizer and a broad spectrum sunscreen is best to keep your skin hydrated and protected without feeling greasy.

Noon Heat Protection

Bodycare: As most of us may have read or come across, 12 p.m. to 4p.m. is the most dangerous heat window. It is best to stay indoors as much as possible, ideally in a shaded or well-ventilated space.

Food: Drink water regularly slowly and small sips. You can also use buttermilk, lemon water, or electrolyte solutions if you’re sweating a lot. Eat light meals—rice, vegetables, curd-based dishes, or fruits like watermelon. Avoid tea, coffee, alcohol, and very spicy or oily food during this time as they increase internal heat and dehydration risk.

Skincare: Refresh your skin with a hydrating mist or plain water spray to reduce heat buildup and discomfort.

Easy evening recovery

Bodycare: Once the sun reduces intensity, you can move around more comfortably. If you exercise, keep it light and short, preferably indoors or in shade.Take a cool shower or wash your face, hands, and feet to bring your body temperature down.

Food: Make sure to keep evening snacks light and not extra oily or greasy, opt for a refreshing summer fruit or local summer drinks to stay fresh and avoid the evening junk food binge.

Skincare: Try to protect your skin physically as well—use a hat, umbrella, or scarf to reduce direct sun exposure.

Wind down and restore

Bodycare: Sleep in a cool, well-ventilated room. Use cotton sheets and loose clothing. If needed, keep a fan or airflow directed toward your body, but avoid overheating the room.

Food: Eat a simple dinner and avoid fried or very spicy food. Hydrate lightly but don’t over drink right before bed.

Skincare: Cleanse your face to remove sweat, dirt, and sunscreen buildup to prevent clogged pores, then apply a soothing moisturiser with aloe vera or hyaluronic acid to calm and rehydrate the skin after heat exposure.

Follow this extreme heat daily wellness routine to stay protected. However if you do have severe symptoms of fatigue, illness or dehydration it is always better to consult a doctor.
