At We The Women 2025, Janhvi Kapoor called out the growing dehumanisation in media, urging a return to empathy and moral responsibility

Actor Janhvi Kapoor has openly criticised the “voyeuristic nature” of today’s media culture, saying that even moments of death are stripped of dignity and humanity. Recalling her own experience after her mother’s passing and the recent demise of veteran actor Dharmendra, she expressed deep concern over how empathy is being replaced with sensationalism.
Speaking at the We The Women 2025 event on Sunday, Janhvi stated that media—especially social platforms—has “single handedly contributed to the complete derailment of human morality.”
“The voyeuristic nature of journalism, of media culture, of social media today, has single handedly contributed to the complete derailment of human morality, and I'm seeing it more and more every day,” she said, urging for greater sensitivity in reportage and public discourse.
