The Early Travel Bug

Bhumkar credits his globetrotting parents for his wanderlust, “I was born into a family of travel buffs where my parents went out of the way to plan the best and most perfect travels throughout my childhood." His early trips to Greece, Italy, France, Japan and Kenyan safaris were ahead of their time — “all of these experiences inculcated the travel bug in me."

A Perfect Parisian Day

His ideal travel day unfolds in the City of Light, “Starting with a typical Parisian breakfast with great coffee and a croissant, then exploring lesser seen parts of the city like hidden art galleries, followed by lunch at my favourite Bar Vendome, and walking across the river after sunset seeing the dazzlingly lit Eiffel."

A Shocking London Incident

Not all travel memories are pleasant. A recent London trip turned traumatic when “my sling bag and an envelope of cash from my mother's purse got stolen...in broad daylight at Selfridges." What stung more was the staff's reaction —“They laughed it off saying 'this is London you can't expect better' despite having clear CCTV footage of the thief."

Fitness on the Road

Bhumkar's unique travel ritual? Doubling down on workouts, “On vacations, contrary to what most people might think, I spend double the time working out as I finally am relaxed and have nothing to rush to. It helps me feel energized to explore."

European Influences

His travels left him with an unexpected souvenir — “all my travels in Europe...have made me a coffee addict! I love finishing a meal with a strong espresso shot, in typical European style."

A Gourmet Globetrotter's Confession

Jashan Bhumkar's passion for Mexican cuisine borders on professional devotion. The entrepreneur admits with a laugh that his team at Soujanya Group teases him about ulterior motives for their Mexico City operations. “They jokingly accuse me of opening our company's office there just as an excuse to keep going back for the food," he shares, his enthusiasm for authentic local flavors evident.

While Bhumkar maintains an adventurous palate — “I rarely ever say no to try anything once" — even this daring foodie has his limits. Two European culinary encounters left permanent marks on his memory, if not his regular diet. “What I wouldn't try again is exotic meats like frog and ostrich," he confesses, recalling encounters with these unusual proteins during different European journeys.
