AI VS ARTISTRY: A COMPOSER REFLECTS ON MUSIC’S CHANGING LANDSCAPE

At a recent music label launch, Sajid (Sajid-Wajid fame) shared his candid thoughts on the growing influence of AI and the evolving dynamics within the music industry.

At an event marking the launch of a new music label by Samayra Creations in collaboration with legendary lyricist Sameer Anjaan, several prominent voices from the industry came together, including Sajid Khan, Mamta Sharma, Kunal Ganjawala, and Sukhwinder Singh. The platform aims to introduce and nurture emerging musical talent.

Speaking on the shifting landscape of music, Sajid addressed the growing impact of artificial intelligence and changing attitudes within the industry. He observed how evolving success often alters perspectives, with newer artists sometimes questioning the approaches of seasoned musicians.

“Sajid's comments highlight the changing dynamics in the music industry. He's spot on about how success can lead to role reversals, with newer artists questioning the methods of experienced musicians.” It's like they're trying to rewrite history or prove they're the new talented lot. As these newer talents who may have learned music lessons from the icons later on start judging them, Sajid's right, true talent evolves, and respect should go both ways. The rise of AI and shortcuts is also a concern, making artists feel diminished. Through this platform we are encouraging experienced musicians to reclaim their space and share their knowledge.”

On collaborating with Sameer Anjaan for the new label, Sajid expressed deep admiration: “When Sameer Bhai took that step, I felt that perhaps people discovered him a bit late. But I’m grateful that they did eventually recognize his value. It’s better late than never.”

He further added that the initiative is also a tribute to his late brother, Wajid Khan, and a step towards guiding the next generation of artists. He emphasised the importance of balancing innovation with respect for traditional knowledge, especially in an era increasingly shaped by AI.

Meanwhile, Sameer Anjaan revealed exciting collaborations for the label, sharing that both Kunal Ganjawala and Sukhwinder Singh will be lending their voices to upcoming tracks.

“My favourite song which also Salman Khan’s favourite - Dil Keh Raha Hai Teri Dhadkan Ko Chu Lun …Tera Jism Odh Lun…… this melodious number will be sung again by the original singer none other than Kunal Ganjawala.”

He also spoke about working with Sukhwinder Singh, adding with a smile: “Sukhwinder will also sing a song for me... It's not easy to make him sing a song. But I know he will do anything for me.”

As the industry stands at the crossroads of technology and tradition, the larger question remains—should artists embrace AI as a tool, or safeguard the essence of classical artistry?
