Amanda Seyfried joins Netflix’s Steps, a fresh animated twist on Cinderella told from the perspective of her stepsisters.

Amanda Seyfried is set to voice Cinderella in Netflix’s upcoming animated film Steps, expected to release in 2026. The film reimagines the classic tale by focusing on the lives of Cinderella’s stepsisters. The actor shared the update on Instagram, posting a picture of her character with the caption, “'STEPS' @netflixfilm.”

Directed by Alyce Tzue and John Ripa, the story centers on stepsister Lilith, voiced by Ali Wong, who is unfairly blamed for an incident at the royal ball. To clear her name and save the kingdom, she teams up with Cinderella (Seyfried) and her sister Margot, played by Stephanie Hsu.
Tzue praised Seyfried’s performance, saying, “Amanda has this incredible ability to make her characters specific and relatable, and we absolutely needed that when taking on a character that's as legendary as Cinderella.”
She added, “We wanted to create a modern heroine complete with flaws and coping mechanisms, and Amanda immediately understood the task. Her portrayal of Cinderella is hilarious and heartbreaking and, most importantly, refreshingly human.”
The project is produced by Amy Poehler, Jane Hartwell, and Kim Lessing.
