Farhan Akhtar’s war epic 120 Bahadur becomes the first Indian film to debut across the nation’s defence theatre network on November 21

In a landmark move, 120 Bahadur – based on the heroic 1962 Battle of Rezang La – is set to screen across India’s defence cinemas, marking a breakthrough in bringing mainstream cinema to the armed forces. The film’s paid previews began on 18 November, coinciding with the 63rd anniversary of the battle it honours.
The story pays tribute to the bravery of 120 Indian soldiers who held off 3,000 Chinese troops in one of the most valiant chapters of Indian military history. The trailer has struck a chord with viewers, praised for its intensity, emotion, and authenticity.

Spearheaded by PictureTime in collaboration with GenSync Brat Media, the screenings are designed to reach soldiers and families stationed in remote areas — an initiative that acknowledges and celebrates their service.
“120 Bahadur honours the courage and sacrifice of our armed forces. We are truly privileged that those who live this spirit every day will watch it with their families,” said Vishal Ramchandani, CEO, Excel Entertainment.
Sushil Chaudhary, founder-CEO of PictureTime, highlighted a significant gap in cinema access: “Only 30% of India’s veteran and defence family audience can reach defence cinemas. We aim to expand that ecosystem, starting with 120 Bahadur, a film that will deeply resonate with the forces.”
Directed by Razneesh Ghai, the film is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar (Excel Entertainment) along with Amit Chandrra (Trigger-Happy Studios).
