That's a Mandala!

It's a symbolic, geometric design that's been around for centuries, originating from ancient India. The word "Mandala" comes from Sanskrit, meaning "circle" or "completion" or the universe and its wholeness.

Typically, a Mandala features:

—  Symmetry: Radiating from a central point, creating a sense of balance.

Spiritual Significance: In Buddhism and Hinduism, Mandalas represent the universe, wholeness, and the interconnectedness of life.

Therapeutic Use: In modern times, Mandalas are popular for meditation, art therapy, and mindfulness – even just colouring one can be super calming!

Historically one would see Mandalas in:

Architecture: especially in the carvings in ancient temples

Art: Tibetan Thangka paintings, Sand & Pebble paintings, Traditional rangolis, Zentangles

In today’s ‘rush to survive’, we see a trend that uses Mandalas as a tool for Personal Growth by focussing the mind or as a means of expressing creativity

Mandalas represent balance, harmony, and the interconnectedness of life. They're a reminder of life's beauty and impermanence.
