Ah, the monsoon season – romantic rains, a refreshing breeze… and troublesome hair days. If there’s one thing that truly suffers during this time, it’s our hair

High humidity, unpredictable showers, and perspiration often lead to frizz, dandruff, hair fall, and an oily scalp. The good news? You don’t need expensive treatments or harsh chemicals to bring your hair back to life. All it takes is one wonder ingredient: rosemary.
Rosemary is a true powerhouse in hair care – stimulating scalp circulation, encouraging faster growth, reducing dandruff, and regulating excess oil production – exactly what monsoon hair craves.
1. DIY Rosemary Oil
In a small pan or double boiler, add 2 tbsp slightly crushed dried rosemary and your preferred carrier oil (such as coconut, olive, or almond oil). Heat gently on a low flame for 20–30 minutes, avoiding a boil – you want a warm infusion, not a fry-up. Once fragrant and lightly green in colour, remove from the heat and allow to cool completely. Strain through a muslin cloth or fine sieve into a clean glass bottle. Store in a cool, dark place for up to two months.
Before use, warm the oil slightly and massage it into your scalp for 5–10 minutes to boost blood flow and reduce hair fall. Leave for 1–2 hours, then wash with a mild shampoo.
2. DIY Rosemary Water
Bring water to the boil in a pan. Add 2 tbsp rosemary (fresh or dried) and reduce to a simmer, allowing it to steep for 15–20 minutes. Remove from the heat and let it cool completely. Strain and transfer to a spray bottle or jar, storing it in the fridge for up to 10–12 days.
Optional: Add 1 tbsp cloves and fenugreek seeds for added benefits.
Spray directly onto your scalp once or twice daily and massage gently. This improves scalp circulation, combats dandruff, soothes itchiness, reduces oiliness, and imparts a natural shine.
