King Khan’s Long-Awaited Crown

After over three decades of reigning as Bollywood’s undisputed superstar, Shah Rukh Khan finally added one of the most prestigious feathers to his cap — the National Award for Best Actor. Social media erupted in celebration as admirers hailed it a long-overdue recognition of his craft.

Gill Storm Made Headlines

The young Indian opener, Shubman Gill, lit up the cricketing world with a sensational series against England, piling up 567 runs at an astonishing average of 94.50. His consistency and flair at the crease not only sealed victories but also etched his name in history. With this performance, Gill became the first-ever male cricketer to win the ICC Player of the Month award four times, a milestone that cements his rise as one of the game’s brightest stars. Known for his effortless stroke play and calm presence under pressure, Gill’s dominance is being hailed as the beginning of a new era for Indian batting.

The International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) has appointed Jeon Na Yeong as its new chairwoman, marking a new chapter after eight years of leadership under Yoon Hyun Sook. A dedicated member of IWPG since 2015, Jeon has served in senior roles including Director of International Policy, Director of Strategic Planning, and Regional Director of Global Region 1, while actively representing the organisation at the UN since 2018.

In her inaugural address, she pledged to build IWPG into a truly global women’s peace organisation, committed to spreading hope, listening to diverse voices, and setting a clear vision for the future.

Former chairwoman Yoon praised her successor’s commitment and leadership, noting her pivotal role in IWPG’s journey from a small group of peace advocates to an international organisation co-hosting UN side events with governments worldwide.

American Eagle’s ad featuring Sydney Sweeney, tagged “Sydney Sweeney has great jeans,” faced heavy backlash as the audience pointed out the pun on “jeans” and “genes.” Many accused the campaign of unintentionally echoing white supremacist propaganda that links “genes” with racial superiority. The uproar quickly spread online, forcing the denim giant to issue a clarification. While some critics remained unconvinced, others acknowledged the explanation, turning the controversy into one of the most talked-about marketing missteps of the month.

AI Version Fuelled Dispute

The 2013 cult romance Raanjhanaa unexpectedly landed in controversy after an AI-edited version surfaced online. Director Aanand L. Rai and actor Dhanush raised strong objections, calling the changes a distortion of their creative vision. Reports suggested the duo was weighing legal action against Eros International, the studio behind the film, to protect its originality. The dispute sparked a wider debate in Bollywood over AI’s growing influence on cinema — where the line between innovation and intrusion was becoming increasingly blurred. What was once remembered as a heartfelt love story suddenly turned into the centre of a heated conversation about authenticity, ethics, and the future of filmmaking.

Bipasha’s Classy Clapback

When old clips of Mrunal Thakur resurfaced where she claimed to be “far better than Bipasha,” social media was quick to reignite the debate. But Bipasha Basu chose grace over noise. Sharing a post that read “Strong women lift each other up,” she let her message do the talking — a subtle yet powerful reminder of solidarity in an industry that thrives on comparisons. While speculation swirled about whether it was a clapback, her words struck a chord far beyond the controversy. Mrunal later issued an apology, clarifying her remarks and diffusing the tension. Yet it was Bipasha’s composed response that captured attention, turning the narrative away from rivalry and towards empowerment. In a month full of drama, her quiet dignity made the loudest statement.

IWPG Empowers 61 Women as Peace Leaders Across South Asia

The International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) Global Region 3 celebrated 61 graduates from India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Afghanistan in its Women’s Peace Education Completion Ceremony. Led by Regional Director Heo Eun-Ju, the event highlighted women’s growing role in peacebuilding, with addresses emphasising solidarity, fairness, and education as tools for change.

Graduate Amber Shahzadi, Director of Academics at EQUIP School System in Pakistan, shared how creating a ‘Family Peace Tree’ with her young daughter reminded her that peace begins at home through respect, love, and understanding. Certificates of excellence were awarded, with special recognition given to the IWPG Pune Peace Committee for advancing peace education and engaging over 1,500 students through art initiatives.

Concluding the ceremony, Ajuli Tulsyan, Founder & Editor-in-Chief of Edge & Essence, pledged her commitment as a new peace lecturer, affirming the collective resolve to nurture women leaders and build a culture of peace worldwide.
