Kirti & Anand are living their IKIGAI at their eco-development Arbor Road Estate. This luxurious resort situated in Guntipalli village, Wargal, 50 Km north of Hyderabad is the perfect getaway for the conscious traveller.
Their vision, passion and untiring efforts over the last 9 years has transformed their land into a bustling bio-diverse eco system; its difficult to believe this was once a rocky and barren area
About 15,000 saplings were planted that included two Miyawaki forests, fruit orchards, food forests and many curated gardens. A large pond was excavated for rainwater harvesting with a holding capacity of about 50 lakh litres. They have preserved the gorgeous prehistoric boulders of the Deccan Plateau by cleverly incorporating them into the buildings and landscape.
All the buildings were made with Compressed Stabilised Earth Blocks, made at site using the soil excavated for the pond. Even their 51 foot lighthouse is made of CSEB without any concrete pillars or beams. All buildings are kept cool without the use of air-conditioning. Even scrap building materials are used to create beautiful mosaics and garden art. And of course, their power and hot water needs are mostly met by Solar energy while the Bio-gas plant provides for their staff cooking.
The swiss tents, rooms and suites are spacious, well appointed, adhering to five-star hotel standards and showcase their personal touch in the form of eclectic artworks.
Guests are delighted with their experience. They relish the homestyle healthy food prepared fresh with local produce, enjoy walks along paddy fields, immerse themselves in the local culture and festivals and leave with innumerable ideas, thoughts and resolutions.
Schools and colleges conduct frequent trips where students get an opportunity to appreciate and interact with various aspects of sustainable and responsible living.
